Before its closure in February 2025, WB San Diego was working on a kart racing game, according to a former employee. The studio, known for providing development for Warner Bros Interactive titles like *Batman* and *Mortal Kombat*, was shut down alongside Monolith Productions and Player First Games. 5n5n29

In a private Patreon podcast, former IGN writer Colin Moriarty shared details from a former WB San Diego employee, revealing that the game, codenamed *Moonlight*, was planned to feature iconic Warner Bros. characters such as those from *Adventure Time*, *Scooby-Doo*, and *Tom and Jerry*. The game, which had working titles like *WB Racers* and *X-Drift Racers*, was meant to be a sister title to the canceled *MultiVersus*.

The game, which was inspired by *Mario Kart*, was reportedly built in Unreal Engine 5 with stylized graphics and vehicle control. Initially designed as a free-to-play multiplayer title for multiple platforms, it eventually shifted to a paid model with a planned early access launch on Steam. The project struggled with shifting platform priorities and lack of a fixed release date, eventually leading to its cancellation.

While the project remains unconfirmed by Warner Bros., the news highlights the lost potential of games that never make it to market. Fans of the genre may hold hope for a revival, but for now, there are no plans for the kart racer to see the light of day.
